I'm sad to share this experience, but felt I must because this is a local store that claims to buy, consign, sell and trade for cash luxury consignment items. I had two items that I was attempting to sell with a possible purchase from them or consign - Chanel and Louis Vuitton - both handbags. One item was in stellar condition with no flaws, the other with minimal flaws.

To first start, this group would only work with me over text messaging. I know the storefront is closed due to theft and will only open by appointment. I offered more than once to come to a meeting spot to show them my bags. They never would. They would only accept pictures, so I took and sent many pictures, along with descriptions, serial # information, purchasing details, etc - all OVER text messaging. After doing all this work, they told me they weren't buying any bags at this time, only consignment, possibly trades. The bag in flawless condition, I was given a very low price to sell over consignment. The remaining bag, a Chanel Boy Bag, they wouldn't provide a price for consignment. And I was essentially told they weren't going to even offer me a cash trade because pricing was too difficult. Even though I showed them the same bag, just a smaller size and in poorer condition from one of more popular luxury consignment sites. I once again offered to meet to allow them to look at the bags in person and was put off. Even when I shared my LinkedIn profile, address, etc to show that I was a real person who was selling the bags. So after all the text messaging, I had to do with this group - I was basically turned away with "we don't want your bags or your business" attitude.

So I decided to go to Store 5a. Store 5a closed their storefront location in Easton, but reopened their location or partnered with Diamond Cellar (now in Dublin on Sawmill). I packed up my bags, took them over there without an appointment. Not only did they think both my bags were beautiful, but wrote me a check on the spot for BOTH of them. Then I turned around and bought two bags from them that I was able to see without making an appointment. They were kind, helpful and a pleasure to work with.

While I know that we all have a tendency to think our stuff is wonderful and worth more than a retailer such as Soho may think, my experience with Store 5a proves that my items were worth money and their time.

Unfortunately I can't say the same for Soho Luxury Exchange. When you can't even get someone to make an appointment with you, then that's a clear signal that you don't want to be bothered. Working with this group was not a good experience.

Website is very cryptic and vague. Spoke with the owner about possible consignment of my vintage luggage and owner referred me back to a website that does not even provide “store” hours. I would personally recommend using another venue.

What a great first experience! Vicki was super nice and knowledgeable about proper care for my very vintage luxury bag! She gave tips and tricks to help me care and transform it into something that would suit me! I really appreciated the pick up in store option while shopping online. I had been looking for a specific Gucci wallet and I happened to come across it here. The price was amazing, the shipping was very quick, and it came with a Gucci dust cover and handwritten note. Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Vicki is great to work with! The shop has a beautiful selection of designer items that are in great quality. Being local, it was convenient to pop in the shop and look myself, but I started online. Based on what I saw online, everything was as expected when in person, which is always a reassuring feeling.
