“I didn’t feel like I was at the dentist; I felt like I was at a friend’s house.” This is what my mom said to me after finishing after her second visit at the office (she went in for teeth whitening and a crown).

Dr. Massiah is hands down the best dentist we have seen. Not only did he treat my mother with the upmost patience and care, he was friendly, easy to talk to, did not rush her out, and explored all options with her. He spent time talking to me on the phone (I’m based in Florida), answering my questions and working with the three of us (me on speakerphone) on the best care plan for her. I would never expect a doctor to be that patient. He acted like he had all the time in the world for us. And he also did a great job on her teeth.

As for the staff: Blondine and Afua were equally amazing with her! Afua was patient and explained every single part of the procedure and took her time. And Blondine is friendly and welcoming.

Thank you Dr. Massiah and team. We have found a NYC dentist for life

I searched up “Black Dentist Manhattan” and that’s exactly what I got. The experience was the best I have ever received by dental professionals. When I had to move my cavity filling appointment to an earlier time, they accommodated me without any issues. When I mentioned I had suffered TMJ problems with other dentists, they gently massaged my jaw throughout the appointment. Soothing music played during the dental work while the dental assistant applied Vaseline to my lips to prevent them from drying out during my procedure.

Past dentists were rough with my mouth and had instilled a fear of dental offices within me due to the lack of care and attention they were willing to offer. They would gaslight me about the amount of discomfort I was facing based off their perceptions and biases on pain, plus many of them made far too many careless mistakes for my liking. All of that has been erased thanks to Dr. Massiah and his team. The staff members are so kind and talk to you like family. It’s all love and smiles over there ❤️

I had a disappointing experience with Dr. Maessiah. His demeanor came across as condescending, particularly when addressing questions about the procedure. Rather than offering clear explanations, he often responded sarcastically, which left me feeling uneasy about his expertise. Additionally, he seemed uncertain about several aspects of the procedure and frequently suggested more costly options, which gave the impression that financial gain was prioritized over patient care.

When I opted for a more affordable alternative, he ultimately refused to assist me. In hindsight, this was a blessing, as I found a more experienced and confident dentist who performed the procedure at a higher standard, with up-to-date technology and at a lower cost.

I would encourage others to carefully evaluate their options and consider seeking a second opinion if faced with similar treatment.

The best dental experience ever! The dentist office is typically an intimidating encounter for me but not with this amazing team. From the moment you enter, you’re greeted with stellar customer service. The receptionist made the environment warm and welcoming, the hygienist explained every step and monitored my comfortability, the dentist asked about my overall well-being and provided me with clear guidance for next steps. They provided me with shades to protect myself from the intense dental lighting and a warm towelette to clean my face at the end. High quality treatment! I felt validated and cared for. They were timely and efficient. It was an added bonus that it’s black-owned with a team of POC. They have a lifetime patient in me. 10/10 recommend.

My tooth-cleaning earlier this week was excellent. The young woman who did the job was thorough and skillful. Altogether a positive experience for me.

I received excellent attention and service from the peridontalist who attended to my gums and from the assisting very capable dental assistant. Dr. Massiah oversaw the whole operation carefully. The woman at the desk skillfully planned my next visits as I get my new crown put in place. There was excellent co-ordination among the entire staff.
